Writing Samples
On this page you will find various writing samples that I have completed during my undergraduate years at Bloomsburg University. Over the years, I have gained a lot of experience with writing using different writing styles including research papers, literary analyses, proposals, blog posts, reflections, technical documents, and journalistic articles. Below, I have provided a few samples of what I believe are some of my strongest works.
In an upper-level Professional Writing course, I worked with a group to write and design this project proposal. Our main project was to design a website for that would act as a digital cookbook consisting of low-budget meals for university students. The proposal's purpose was to organize our research about food insecurity, develop a time-line for our project, and our proposal had to be accepted by our client who represented the Bloomsburg University Foundation.
Here is a book review I wrote to promote one of Margaret Atwood's more recent novels The Penelopiad. I used a different tone in the book review compared to my academic papers because my hypothetical audience for the book review would not necessarily be literary scholars. Although it wasn't required for the project, I decided to use Adobe InDesign to layout my book review as if it were to be printed in a magazine.

This is a link to all the articles I have written that have been published in the Bloomsburg University Student Newspaper, The Voice. I have written news articles, opinion pieces, features articles, and arts & entertainment highlights. I worked on The Voice for over two years and took every opportunity to challenge myself to take on a larger roles within the organization. I began as a Contributing Writer, moved on to become a Staff Writer, and eventually I was promoted to Opinions/Editorial Editor.
